SADGURU

SADGURU

We have acquired this human body as a result of several births of merit and good deeds in our previous lives. In this life every person has a guru. Mother becomes first Guru to the child. Father becomes his second Guru. In a school or college, a student sees his teacher as Guru. In this sacred land of India, we are blessed with many spiritual Gurus.

Who is Sadguru? Sadguru is incarnation of the Great Cosmic Power. Sadguru establishes Vedic Dharma. A Sadguru is a spiritual guide and a yogi, who takes his devotees to the Lotus feet of God by his Grace. Sadguru is omnipotent. Sadguru is compassionate. He instils love for God in his devotes. Sadguru librates us from cycle of births and rebirths. Sadguru tells us that ultimate goal of this birth is self realization and meditation is the bridge to experiencing the self. Intense Meditation done regularly and sincerely can purify our heart, the seat of divine consciousness. Sadguru tells us about patience which is greatest penance. Sadguru says discipline is important to get knowledge. That is why our scriptures have mentioned Guru as Bramha, Guru as Vishnu, Guru as Maheswar.

Sadguru is a silent teacher who teaches us attainment of salvation through belief and unwavering Bhakti embedded with love to his devotees. Sadguru follows the principle “Give” and “Forgive”. He fulfils the boons of his devotees and forgives their sins committed. Whereas devotees follows the principle of take (boons) and forget the Sadguru. Sadguru is embodiment of all deities or Sadguru is sarva Devata Swaroopa. A flower offered at the feet of Sadguru reaches all Deities. All Deities are in numerous forms of the same Brahman, undertaking several functions in this Universe. (Siva, Vishnu, Brahma, Lakshmi, Parvathi, Saraswati etc.).
Parmatma (Supreme Being/God) is creator of Atma. Atma is in Jyoti swaroopa when it enters human body and becomes jeevatma. We can not see Atma or jeevatma in our body as illusion takes over. The creator of the entire universe who has neither birth nor death is Paramatma. Parmatma is incomprehensible because He is all, because the whole of creation is Paramatma. Atma has cosmic powers like that of Parmatma. But Atma is an atom or smaller than atom coming out from Paramatma. Atma is not a creator but is destined to do karma as per the directions of Parmatma. One has to distinguish the supreme cosmic power of Atma from Chaturmukha Brahma (the force of creation/supreme being). We have to merge this Atma with Paramatma which is the ultimate destination (Salvation).

A man might be a doctor, a engineer, a lawyer, a teacher etc and he might be rich or poor. Why one is born lame, one healthy, one rich, one as a beggar? We call it as prarabdhakarma. Prarabdhakarma is result of actions in the previous life. In each life, two things comes along with us like shadows that are good karma and bad karma(sins) from previous life. We alone have to reap the fruits of our actions. It is inevitable for a body to perform as per the dictates of atma, the soul within. To wipe off the bad karma & arishadvargas i.e kaama., krodha, lobha, moha, mada, maatsarya (Desire, Anger, Miserliness, Undue fascination, Lustfulness, Jealous), the Grace of Sadguru is needed. Sadguru teaches us about Atma Jnana and Spiritual path to attain the Lotus feet of Lord. What is Atma Jnana (Knowledge of Self)?

Every person should always think
“Who am I? Why I am born? Why this human body that I have is also constantly changing since birth to death? Why I have to die? After death where will I go? What will happen to this body? Who created this body? From where it has come? This body is illusion and still I love it. Birth and death are two ultimate realities. Between Birth and Death, what are my duties? Who is suffering? My body or my Atma? Who runs this body? To get rid off births and re-births, what should be done. This is Truth and this is Atma Jnana. Sadguru guides his devotees on the path of Yoga sadhana - to discover and realize their true Self. If one knows this truth then the person loves all creatures as they are children of same God”. He will be in utter Bliss(Complete Happiness)”.

What is happiness? Happiness comes when there is peace of mind. If a human is having wavering mind or has no satisfaction then he will never attain the peace of mind. Sadguru tells us not to have Arishadvargas which are our real enemies. By loving every living being in this world one gets happiness. The devotees are trained to stay away from ego, anger, fear, anxiety, shyness, repeating the same mistakes and behaving arrogantly.

To get absolute Bliss, one’s mind has to be blank away from problems, avocations etc. With wavering mind a person can not concentrate. One should be able to control the senses or thoughts coming to mind. It can be achieved by constant practice of Pranayama (control over breath). We can experience bliss in meditation when we speak the language of God(Silence). Bliss is not of the body; it is of the mind. It is not dependent on external things; it is internal. Mind without arishadvargas, full of spiritual knowledge, flows like a river. That peace has to be experienced; it cannot be described in words. Vibrations from Sadguru can be experienced only by his Grace.

Sadguru tells us how to do meditation (meditation means organizing & channeling one’s thoughts) & pranayama (control/concentration over breathing) to bring peace to the troubled minds. Pranayama is the key to meditation. There are seven chakras in our body i.e. Muladhara, Swadhisthana, Manipura, Vishuddha, Anjna, Sahasrara. Pranayama increases the intake of cosmic/vital energy and helps energize the chakras, spiritual energy centers. It also helps balance the ida and pingala nadis, channels, thus bringing the mind under control. Practice of Meditation with Pranayama transforms the vital energy into divine love and paves a way for our spiritual passage.

According to Sri Ramakrishna paramhansa - "The Vedas speak of seven planes where the mind dwells. When the mind is immersed in worldliness it dwells in the three lower planes— at the naval, the organ of generation, and the organ of evacuation. In that state the mind loses all its higher visions-it broods only on 'woman and gold'. The fourth plane of the mind is at the heart. When the mind dwells there, one has the first glimpse of spiritual consciousness. One sees light all around. Such a man, perceiving the divine light, becomes speechless with wonder and says: 'Ah! What is this? What is this?' His mind does not go downward to the objects of the world. "The fifth plane of the mind is at the throat. When the mind reaches this, the aspirant becomes free from all ignorance and illusion. He does not enjoy talking or hearing about anything but God. If people talk about worldly things, he leaves the place at once. The sixth plane is at the forehead. When the mind reaches it, the aspirant sees the form of God day and night. But even then a little trace of ego remains. At the sight of that incomparable beauty of God's form, one becomes intoxicated and rushes forth to touch and embrace it. But one doesn't succeed. It is like the light inside a lantern. One feels as if one could touch the light, but one cannot on account of the pane of glass.

"In the top of the head is the seventh plane. When the mind rises there, one goes into samadhi. Then the Brahmajnani directly perceives Brahman. But in that state his body does not last many days. He remains unconscious of the outer world. If milk is poured into his mouth, it runs out. Dwelling on this plane of consciousness, he gives up his body in twenty-one days. That is the condition of the Brahmajnani. But yours is the path of devotion. That is a very good and easy path”.

Sadguru teaches his devotees, the chanting of God’s name and visualizing him. This path is easiest. He tells us about great outpourings of divine love. Let us search in the depths of our heart and tap the truth, that constant “Pranavakar, Omkar” within. The time span of our life is short and every breath we take be infused by Omkar. Once we are fine-tuned with this “Omkar” within, we will experience the all omnipresent self. Sadguru is there to provide guidance when ever he sees his children are in trouble. We should hold/cling to his legs tight and pray, to make our heart as temple and stay there with compassion.

Silence is the language of Lord Dattatreya. When we pray, we speak to God but when we meditate in silence, God speaks to us. When we are silent, we are easily accessible and able to listen to the divine language. Once we learn this language of Lord, we will go beyond the cage of mind, body and intellect. It is only when we approach Sadguru with inner silence; we are able to communicate with him. With Sad guru’s Grace, we can obtain infinite knowledge.

Worldly knowledge changes but Truth is permanent. Truth is the power that controls the universe; it creates, sustains and dissolves. This can be realized only through meditation. Truth or the energy behind everything in this world can only be realized by going inward and by an endless process of self-inquiry. Veda’s (knowledge) can lead us to “neti, neti” ( not this, not this), however, to realize the Supreme Self-Brahman-truth, we need to expand our awareness and vision. Meditation liberates one from arishadvargas and gives the experience of the pure divine consciousness. One should be liberated from the slavery to senses and experience the divine consciousness. Truth is our original form.

Sadguru says while taking bath, pour water over head, thinking your body and atma in it as Lord Siva and utter “Om Namah Sivaya”. Sadguru also emphasizes on doing Sadguru seva(service). From the time we wake up in the morning till we go to bed, we must perform every single act as service towards Sadguru (in his presence or in his absence). By doing Sadguru seva one gets rid of sins committed in the present life and the previous lives. Few people do seva physically (cleaning, sweeping, helping, voluntary duty, etc), few people provide moral help, few people provide financial help. Seva is Sadhana. Sadguru removes all difficulties/problems pertaining to the person. Sadguru says even the bad thoughts constitute bad company. One should not only discard bad company, but also bad thoughts. One has to join good company and inculcate good thoughts. Sadguru wants to see good behaviour and good discipline in all the devotees.

According to Sadguru, People/devotees come to him as per Sadguru’s will. Sadguru looks into their past life and heals their problems. Sadguru is a man of miracles and provides physical healing to the devotees who are in distress and in need of help. Joys and sorrows are intertwined in the life. Sadguru tests us in various ways. We should pray Sadguru to give us strength to withstand any situation in our lives.

Sadguru says life is full of desires. If one desire is fulfilled another crops up and there is no end. Lead a life without a desire or a desire meant for survival. Do not go after worldly desires, which will perish in no time. One has to fulfil his duty towards parents, spouse and children. Sadguru says live in this world but don’t get attached to it. No relatives or wealth earned are going to accompany the atma while leaving the body. Develop Vairagya (Dispassion).
Manava Seva(Human service) is considered as Madhava Seva (Devine service), Sadguru teaches us to do manava seva with selfless motive and helps us to see Madhava in each human being while serving with tolerance. It is also one of the paths to salvation. Sadguru teaches us to use good words towards fellow beings. Good words/speech is like mantra which appeases the Lord.

There are fishes and water mammals in river Ganges. Are they getting salvation? No. By taking bath in river Ganges, will we get salvation. Grace of Sadguru is needed for salvation. Sadguru says, God has given this human body and every act we do should be in service of God; head to bow before him, hands to join and pray him, eyes to have his darshan, mouth to utter his name or praise him, heart to make a temple for him, legs to do pilgrimage (abode of Sadguru) and brain to know more about him. Ask Sadguru for ‘Anandam’ (everlasting happiness) i.e. salvation & nothing else.

Let us pray our SADGURU Pujya Sri Sri Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji who is Lord Dattatreya incarnate to shower his Grace upon us and enable us to swim this ocean of miseries in life and reach his Lotus Feet.

My pranams to the Lotus feet of SADGURU.

I am working and serving for my Sadguru.
Sadguru is working through me.
Sadguru alone is working.
Without Sadguru I am nothing.

Sarvejana Sukhinobhavantu
Everyone should be Happy
